Renault And Caterham Will Build The Alpine Sportscar Together

Autocar has finally blown the cover on who’s going to be Renault’s partner on building the Alpine A110-50 concept. It seems that the French carmaker will work side-by-side with Caterham to bring the concept  to the road.

After much speculation about a possible collaboration with Lotus and Mercedes, the British publication rushed to confirm, before any of the two companies have, that the deal is to become official within the next month.

The main connection between Renault and Caterham are the engines supplied by the French producer to Caterham’s F1 team. Another possible connection might also be Renault’s former deputy motorsport director Cyril Abiteboul who, as from last month, was appointed Caterham’s new CEO. It is possible that the 35-year-old CEO might continue his links with the French carmaker.

Caterham, on the other hand, has been more than eager to come up with an entirely new vehicle to join the Seven and the SP/300.R track car. The partnership might as well help out Renault turn the Alpine from a track concept to the first road-going Alpine in two decades.
